The sound of rain hitting against the window and the soft rumbling of thunder woke Gary up. Both Mark and Gary had fallen asleep after their little pleasurable moment together still naked. Soft snores came from Mark's half parted lips whilst his head was rested on Gary's chest. Slowly Gary lifted his head and realized what had happened the previous hours ago causing him to panic a little. "Mark..." He poked his friend in the ribs.
"Mhmm.." Mark didn't wake up softly he stroked Gary's chest with his hand.
"Mark! Wake up we need to get dressed." Without thinking about it Gary quickly jumped out of bed almost causing Mark to fall to the floor.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing??!!" Thankfully Mark stopped himself from falling. He sat up and frowned at Gary who was nervously falling all over the place trying to get dressed.
"S...sorry..i shouldn't be here... this was never meant to happen." Gary tried to neaten up his hair and clothes.
"What's that suppose to mean?" Mark gave Gary an evil glare. Did he really just say that? Why did he even say that is he trying to hurt Mark's feelings? After all Mark did say he loved Gary which took a lot of courage.
"You've got a family. Sorry." Just before Gary left Mark grabbed his hand so he couldn't.
"No..you're not getting away that easy Barlow... you can't just leave not after what happened and not after what i just said. Why are you so scared to admit it?" Mark shook his head angrily.
"Because it's not true... it can't be..." Gary bowed his head a little.
"Thanks Gaz... thanks a lot! You have made me feel like a great person. You know what just go. Get out my sight." Tears rose to Mark's eyes as he left the doorway and got back into bed under the duvet. Alone. Turning his back to the door which Gary remain stood in.
"M...Mark...i'm sorry i didn't mean it like that... sorry...i'm just..err...i've never been in this position...with a man..who's my best mate." Gary stood against the door like a nervous little boy who had just been told off. Playing with his fingers like he always did when he was nervous.
"Save it Gary. Just forget it ever happened." Mark's voice was breaking a little from his soft crying. It was now pretty obvious how hurt he was and the fact he's crying over Gary not wanting to admit his feelings..maybe because Mark wasn't the man he loved or he wasn't good enough to be loved by a man like Gary.
"P..please don't cry Mark.." Softly Gary closed the door and climbed back onto the empty space next to Mark.
"It's fine... glad you broke it off..before it got serious..and before i got too into it." He sighed softly wiping his eyes on the duvet.
Gary watched his friend for a little while. It's clear that Mark really likes him, so why is he so scared of admitting his feelings too? "Mark.. can i ask something..?" He asked a little nervous.
"What..?" Mark never turned round his eyes were fixed on the wall in front of him.
"If...we did.. you know..become serious... you'd erm...tell Emma right before we did? Please...don't cheat on her...she doesn't deserve that.." Gary's voice skipped a little.
Mark slowly turned around to see his older friend with his head bowed a little playing with the duvet which Mark was wrapped in. "I wouldn't cheat on her... as in fully dating you behind her back...i'd tell her... that's if we'd ever get together."
"Good..good...to hear...err.. you mean..w..when?" Gary cleared his throat a little.
"When? When what?" Mark asked a little confused.
"W...When...we're...together..." Slowly Gary rose his head to look at Mark.
Mark's eyes widened due from shock and excitement he never expected to hear Gary say that "You mean??"
Gary placed his hand on Mark's cheek and gently brushed away the remaining tears. "yes... i love you Mark Owen..." A soft smile formed on his face.
